Establecer, mantener y desarrollar vínculos internacionales entre la UCBC y otras universidades e instituciones educacionales, diplomáticas y culturales.

La Universidad Chileno-Británica de Cultura es una universidad sin fronteras, enfocada a contribuir al desarrollo de académicos, profesionales y graduados preparados para participar en una sociedad globalizada.

La UCBC tiene convenios académicos con distintas universidades británicas para realizar actividades de mutuo interés como el intercambio de alumnos y profesores, así como el desarrollo de investigaciones conjuntas, entre otras iniciativas. En 2007, en la Cámara de los Comunes en Londres se firmó  la mayoría de estos acuerdos, en presencia de Su Alteza Real el Príncipe Eduardo, Conde de Wessex, y Patrono Real de la Universidad.

PROGRAMAS INTERNACIONALES DISPONIBLES PARA ALUMNOS UCBC

1.                 Pasantías en Reino Unido

Alumnos de UCBC realizan Pasantía de un mes en University of St Mark & St John, Plymouth, la Universidad de Cambridge u otra.

La UCBC aporta para los estudiantes seleccionados el pago de arancel en estas universidades, el alojamiento y un porcentaje del costo del pasaje.

Convocatoria se abre durante el primer semestre.

Requisitos

•                     Cursar sexto u octavo semestre de la carrera
•                     Mínimo general de notas 5.5
•                     Mínimo promedio específico en Lengua Inglesa de 5.5
•                     Formulario de postulación
•                     Carta de intención
•                     Estar al día con todos los compromisos con la UCBC

2.                 British Council

UCBC envía los antecedentes de los mejores postulantes de Pedagogía y/o Educación General Básica al British Council, el que ofrece integrarse durante 1 año, a un programa pagado de ayudantías de español en colegio británicos.

UCBC aporta un porcentaje del costo del pasaje.

Convocatoria se abre al final del segundo semestre.

Requisitos

•                     Ser chileno (a)
•                     Cursar 4to año o estar en proceso de titulación
•                     Mínimo promedio de notas 5.5
•                     Mínimo promedio específico en Lengua Inglesa de 5.5
•                     Formulario de postulación
•                     Carta de intención
•                     Estar al día con todos los compromisos con la UCBC
•                     Asistir a una entrevista ante un Comité de Selección Final
•                     Comprometerse a realizar una ayudantía a su regreso a la Universidad
•                     Completar la “Solicitud de Nombramiento como Auxiliar en Lengua Española en Colegios en Reino Unido” del British Council 
•                     No haber residido en un país de habla inglesa por un período mayor a seis (6) meses en los últimos diez (10) años.

3.                 Intercambios

Durante 2013 se realizará la primera experiencia de intercambio, destinada a la Carrera de Traducción. Un alumno(a) se integrará durante un semestre a la Universidad de Westminster como alumno regular. También se abrirá el Intercambio de un semestre para alumnos de Pedagogía  en University of St Mark & St John, Plymouth.

Los estudiantes seleccionados quedan liberados del pago de arancel en la universidad de destino y UCBC aporta un porcentaje del costo del pasaje.

Convocatoria se abre dos veces al año.

4.                 Asistentes británicos de lengua inglesa en UCBC

Alumnos de Universidades de Reino Unido como Cambridge, Essex, Aston y Sheffield Hallam vienen a UCBC para asistir a clases y realizar ayudantías de lengua inglesa. Este esfuerzo de la Universidad responde a su interés por generar un ambiente bicultural en que sus alumnos accedan a verdaderos vínculos con el Reino Unido.

• Enero: Pasantías en Reino Unido
  Alumnos de UCBC realizan Pasantía en University College Plymouth y la Universidad de Cambridge. Además de integrarse a las clases de la Universidad, los pasantes en University College Plymouth,  José Puente, Melissa Chavez y Javiera Poblete, realizaron una presentación sobre Chile a estudiantes de Malasia bajo la tuición del profesor Michael Hall
• Junio: Beca del Curso de Humedales para viajar a Reino Unido Felipe Bravo, alumno de Traducción fue favorecido con una beca de la Universidad Chileno Británica de Cultura para trasladarse a Reino Unido, donde se integra a un equipo de WWT (Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust), ubicada en Slimbridge, Gloucestershire, Inglaterra.
• Junio: Despedida de alumnos Universidad de Cambridge UCBC organizó un almuerzo de despedida a los 6 alumnos de la Universidad de Cambridge que durante 2011 y 2012 se desempeñaron como asistentes de inglés en la UCBC, ICBC y el IP, colaboraron con actividades culturales y de extensión, apoyaron al Departamento de Colegios del ICBC y participaron en el Programa Inglés Abre Puertas, entre otras actividades.
• Junio: las alumnas de UCBC, Luz Holmberg y María Francisca Lillo son seleccionadas por La UCBC y el British Council para trasladarse a Reino Unido durante 1 año, donde realizarán ayudantías de español.
  Pasantía actual
  Los alumnos de UCBC  María Francisca Sereno, Francisca Caro, Camila Zamora, Daniel Lagos y Norman Zalaquett son seleccionados para realizar una Pasantía Académica en Reino Unido en 2013.
• Julio: Pasantía docente  La destacada profesora Paola Lisperguer es seleccionada para realizar Pasantía Docente en Reino Unido, donde asiste a conferencia internacional "Redefining the contours of Learning,Teaching and Research in the 21st Century”. Además realiza una inmersión académica en University College Plymouth St Mark & St John
• Agosto: Declan Muldoon,  Master en “Technical and Specialist Translation from French, Spanish and Portuguese into English”, de la Universidad de Westminster, dictó un taller en Traducción de Textos Legales y Económicos a los alumnos de la Universidad Chileno Británica de Cultura
• Agosto:  Alumnos de intercambio llegan a la UCBC
  4 alumnos de la Universidad de Cambridge y 1 de Essex vienen a UCBC para asistir a clases y realizar ayudantías de inglés. Este esfuerzo de la Universidad responde a su interés por generar un ambiente bicultural en que existan verdaderos vínculos con el Reino Unido.
• Noviembre: Beca British Council / UCBC 2012
  UCBC abre convocatoria del British Council para que estudiantes de pedagogía y educación general básica de UCBC puedan desempeñarse como asistentes de español en Reino Unido.
  
  UCBC realiza un aporte en el valor del pasaje a quienes resulten seleccionados por el British Council.
• Noviembre: Nuevo intercambio
  La Universidad Chileno-Británica de Cultura inaugura programa de Intercambio con la Universidad de Westminster, lo que implica que estudiantes de cuarto año de Traducción podrán asistir a cursos de pregrado ofrecido en la Universidad de Westminster durante un semestre.
  El estudiante seleccionado queda liberado del pago de arancel en la universidad de destino y UCBC cubre los costos de su pasaje.
  Este Programa de Intercambio apunta a fortalecer la movilidad estudiantil.
• Noviembre: Videoconferencia bilateral
  Para explorar nuevas formas de intercambio internacional y de aprendizaje, se realizó una videoconferencia que reunió a estudiantes de la Universidad Chileno Británica de Cultura y de Sheffield Hallam University,  Reino Unido.
  
  La actividad consistió en que, por una parte, alumnos UCBC de la asignatura “Business Translation” presentaran en inglés el tema “Santiago Stock Exchange” , mientras que los estudiantes ingleses de la asignatura “Spain and Latin America”, realizaran presentaciones en español sobre la “Crisis del Euro”.
• Noviembre: Delegación de la UCBC viaja a Reino Unido
  Las más altas autoridades de la Universidad Chileno Británica de Cultura viajan a Reino Unido reunirse en el Palacio de Buckingham con el Príncipe Eduardo, Patrono de nuestra Universidad. Además el Director de Relaciones Internacionales de UCBC, Mr. Anthony Adams presenta el cuaderno académico "Contrastive Phonetics & Phonology" en el Departamento de Lingüística de la Universidad de Essex y en la Universidad de Aston.
   

• Enero: 5 alumnos becados por UCBC partieron rumbo a Reino Unido los 2010 a cursar pasantías en la Universidad College of Plymouth y en University of Lancaster. Daniela Sepúlveda, Carla Olivos y Zabrina García se dirigieron a la Facultad de Educación de la Universidad de Plymouth, Camila Piña y Patricio Román partieron al Dpto de Lingüística de la Universidad de Lancaster.
• Mayo: La alumna Valentina Rojas Walbaum es elegida por la UCBC para desempeñarse como Profesora Ayudante del British Council en un colegio del Reino Unido.
• Mayo: Alumnos de UCBC llegados de Reino Unido compartieron sus experiencias
• Mayo: Peter Ellwod Director Regional del Consejo Británico visita la Universidad Chileno Británica de Cultura.
• Junio: Representante de Relaciones Internacionales de UCBC visita distintas universidades en Reino Unido para establecer nuevos convenios de cooperación. Se trata de las Universidades de Cambridge, Nottingham Trent, Sheffield Hallam, Westminster y Aston.
• Junio: Estudiantes del Certificate in Materials Development for English Language Teaching reciben su Diploma.
  
• Junio: Universidad Chileno Británica (Chile) y Universidad de Lancaster (Reino Unido) dan a conocer Resultados de investigación conjunta.
  
• 20-24 Junio: Margaret Noble, Rectora de University College Plymouth St Mark and St John. Visita UCBC para realizar actividades protocolares y ofrecer una conferencia abierta al público.
  
• Julio: Se firma convenio con la Universidad de Leeds
• 5 de julio: Visita Michael O Sullivan del Cambridge Overseas Trust.
• 19-22 julio: Profesora visitante, Gladis García-Soza de la Universidad de Essex dicta Workshop “Translating Figurative Language in English and Spanish: a Comparative Approach ” para alumnos de Traducción de UCBC.
• 18-22 julio: Profesor visitante Norbert Pachler de la Universidad de Londres realiza clases de la fase presencial del Certificate in Technology and Language Teaching and Learning durante la semana

• Noviembre: El Departamento de Relaciones Internacionales de la UCBC anuncia los nombres de los seleccionados para asistir a la Pasantía en Reino Unido. José Puente, Melissa Chavez y Javiera Poblete se dirigen a University College St. Mark and St. John, Plymouth.
  
  Eillyn Flores se integra por un trimestre a la Universidad de Cambridge, Gonville and Caius College.
  
  Pedro Pfeffer, Presidente del Directorio, Marcela Moya, Vicerrectora Académica, Pablo Halpern, miembro del Directorio y Anthony Adams, Director de RRII de UCBC viajan en noviembre a Reino Unido reunirse en el Palacio de Buckingham con el Príncipe Eduardo, Patrono de nuestra Universidad.
  
  Además, visitan la Universidad de Cambridge,  el Instituto de Educación de la Universidad de Londres, se reúnen con Baroness Hooper  (Cámara de los Lores) y Wayne David (Cámara de los Comunes) en el Parlamento. El Director de Relaciones Internacionales de UCBC, Sr. Anthony Adams  firma convenios con la Universidad de Nottingham Trent, Westminster y Aston.
  
  Además, ofrece una conferencia en el Departamento de Lingüística de la Universidad de Essex.

• 4 al 8 de Enero: Dr. Amos Paran, de la Universidad de Londres, dicta cuatro talleres para docentes de la UCBC (20 horas).
• Enero: Los alumnos Paula Pesenti y Ariel Topaz viajan a la Universidad de Lancaster, becadas por la UCBC, para participar en cursos pregrado en el Departamento de Lingüística (5 semanas).
• Febrero: Los alumnos Karla Cifuentes, Fernanda Häntsch, y Camila Vilagran, becadas por la UCBC, viajan a University College, Plymouth para participar en cursos pregrado en Educación (4 semanas).
• Marzo: Proceso de selección de un alumno de Pedagogía para desempeñarse como Profesor Ayudante en un colegio del Reino Unido.
• Sept 2010 – Junio 2011: La alumna seleccionada es Catalina Pérez del 5º año Pedagogía.
• 14-20 de Julio: Dr. Amos Paran dictará la parte presencial del curso "Certificate in Materials Development in ELTW con créditos tranferibles al MA en TESOL en la U. de Londres.
• 21-23 de Julio: Dr. Paran dictará un curso “Textos en la Enseñanza del Inglés” para alumnos de la UCBC (18 horas).26-30 de julio: La Dra. Judit Kormos dictará un curso "Research Methods in ELT" dirigido a docentes de la UCBC (20 horas).
• 24 de Julio: Ambos profesores visitantes, Dr. Paran y Dra. Kormos, darán ponencias en el Congreso IATEFL/TESOL, como invitados de la UCBC.
• 28 de Julio: La profesora Claudia Ferradas, del Norwich Institute for Language Education (NILE), dictará una charla sobre "Educating Intercultural Speakers".

• 3 al 7 de Agosto: "Certificate in Materials Development for ELT". Parte presencial del curso, dictado por el Dr. Amos Paran, Coordinador del MA in TESOL del Institue of Education, Universidad de Londres.Curso con créditos transferibles al Programa de MA TESOL, U. de Londres.
• 10 al 14 de Agosto: "Literature in Language Teaching", curso dictado por el Dr.Paran para alumnos de la UCBC (20 hrs.).
• 10 al 16 de Septiembre: Cinco talleres sobre Evaluación Educacional dictados por la Dra. Dianne Wall, de la Universidad de Lancaster, y dirigidos a docentes de la UCBC (20hrs.).
• Octubre: proceso de selección de alumnos UCBC para pasantías en el Reino Unido. Tres cupos en Educación para University College, Plymouth, y dos para Lingüística en la Universidad de Lancaster.
• 23 al 27 de Noviembre: Rectora, Director de Relaciones Internacionales, más otras autoridades de la UCBC, viajan al Reino Unido par visitar las universidades británicas con las cuales la UCBC tiene convenios: Cambridge, Lancaster, Londres, The Open University, y Plymouth.
• 25 de Noviembre: Lanzamiento del libro "70 years ICBC" en la Embajada de Chile en Londres. Ceremonia contó con la asistencia del Patrono Real de la UCBC, SAR el Príncipe Eduardo, más Parlamentarios británicos de ambas Cámaras, y autoridades educacionales y culturales del Reino Unido.

• 17th April, 1194 Richard I, more commonly known as Richard Lionheart, was crowned King for the second time in England. This event took place following the loss of his former kingdom to Henry VI, Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation.
• 23rd April, 1348 At Windsor castle King Edward III created the Most Noble Order of the Garter, the oldest order of chivalry.
• 21st April, 1509 Following the death of his father, Henry VII, Henry VIII ascended to the British throne. He became the second monarch of the Tudor dynasty and married 6 times. His reign was the most absolute of all English monarchs. He broke away from the Roman Catholic Church and became the head of the Church of England.
• 5th April, 1588 Thomas Hobbes, an English empiricist philosopher and political theorist was born in Westport. He is famous for his book entitled Leviathan or The Matter, Form and Power of a Commonwealth Ecclesiastical and Civil,; a declaration of secularism in which he proposed the State completely breaking away from the church.
• 25th April 1599 Oliver Cromwell was born in Huntington. He was an English statesman and soldier who would hold office as Lord Protector. England would gain military, colonial and commercial power under his rule.
• 29th April, 1707 The Act of Union joining England and Scotland in the United Kingdom of Great Britain was signed by both Parliaments in London.
• 14th April, 1759 George Friedrich Haendel died in London. He was a great German composer who was famous for Late Baroque music. On his death, Haendel left an abundant collection of more than 600 works split into two groups: vocal music (dramatic, oratorios, secular and religious) and instrumental music (orchestra, chamber and harpsichord).
• 19th April, 1882 Charles Darwin, the biologist and creator of the theory of evolution by natural selection, died in Kent.
• 27th April, 1897 The opening ceremony for IV Modern Olympics was held with 22 countries and 1,791 athletes present.
• 30th April, 1897 At a conference at The Royal Society in London, the British physicist Joseph John Thomson announced the discovery of the electron, a subatomic particle.
• 21st April, 1916 Elizabeth II was born in London. In 1952 at the age of 25, she would ascend to the UK throne.
• 4th April, 1958 A three day rally, which started in London and ended in Aldermaston, gathered an almost 10,000 strong crowd in protest against the atomic bomb. This event paved the way for new social movements, culminating in the 80's peace movements.

May

• 6th May, 1994 Following a trip through the Channel Tunnel, Queen Elizabeth II and French President Francois Mitterrand officially inaugurated it in two ceremonies in France and Britain respectively. The engineering masterpiece, which had taken eight years to build and cost billions of pounds, is 50 km long, of which 37 km are under water. It takes 20 minutes to cross, with the London-Paris journey taking 3 hours. This tunnel has seen Britain and Europe reunited for the first time since the last ice age about 8,000 years ago.
• 8th May, 1945 In a message broadcast to the nation from 10 Downing Street, British Prime Minister Winston Churchill, officially announced the end of the war with Germany, acknowledging that the ceasefire had been signed the day before at 02:41 in the temporary US headquarters in Reims. Crowds of people, many dressed in red, white and blue – the colours of the British flag, gathered at the gates of Buckingham Palace in London and cheered the royal family on the balcony. The ceasefire was signed again in Berlin the following day in the presence of Marshal Georgi Zhukov, on behalf of the Russian Supreme Command.
• 9th May, 1873 Howard Carter was born in London, an archaeologist who made one of the most important and most celebrated contributions to Egyptology in 1022 when he discovered the tomb of Pharaoh Tutankhamun.
• 24th May, 1819 Victoria I was born in London in the district named Victoria. She would rule the United Kingdom and Ireland from June 1837 until her death in January 1901. She would also become the first Empress of India. Her name also baptised the Victorian era, which is known for British territorial expansion and great economic prosperity.
• May 1, 1707 The Act of Union joined England (which had already signed allegiance with Wales) and Scotland to form the United Kingdom of Great Britain. The two nations, which had been separated until that moment but governed by the same king, would retain their legal and religious structures. However, both countries would have their own flag and Parliament. From this date onwards, Anne I became the first sovereign of the Kingdom of Great Britain.
• 3rd May, 1616 William Shakespeare, the Swan of Avon, died in England. He was an English playwright and poet, and author of hugely successful and famous works. He is considered the most important English author of all time.
• 21st May, 1471 In England the "War of the Roses" civil war temporarily ended following the defeat of Lancaster at the hands of York at the Battle of Tewkesbury. This famous civil war began in 1455 when the two sides, the Houses of Plantagenet, both aspired to the crown. This war would finally end in 1485.

• 2nd June, 1953 At 27, Quen Elizabeth II of England acceeded to the throne following the death of her father, George VI, on 6th February, 1952. She was crowned Queen in a solemn ceremony at Westminster Abbey (58 years ago).
• 20th June, 1837 Following the death of King William IV in UK, the Victorian Age began. His daughter, Alejandra Victoria, was proclaimed Queen Victoria I at the age of 18 (174 years ago).
• 28th June, 1491 Henry VIII, King of England and founder of the Church of England, was born in London. He was the son of Henry VII and would leave his mark on the English Monarchy (520 years ago).
• 21st June, 1377 King Edward III died in Sheen, England. His intentions for the French crown gave rise to the 100 Year War (634 years ago).
• 30th June, 1688 Para conjurar el peligro que supondría una dinastía de reyes católicos en la Inglaterra anglicana, los dos partidos mayoritarios del Parlamento, whigs y tories, se ponen de acuerdo para que el príncipe protestante Guillermo III asuma el poder. Es la Revolución Gloriosa en la que, sin derramamiento de sangre, Guillermo III se hace con el poder y firma el "Bill of Rights" uno de los documentos más trascendentales de la historia constitucional inglesa (hace 323 años).

• 7th July, 2005 In London U.K. a number of coordinated terrorist bomb attacks on the transport network end the lives of 52 people and would around 700, following the explosion of 3 devices on the Tube and another on a double-decker bus. The first three bombs went off at 08:50 outside Liverpool Street and Edgware Road Tube Stations, and the third in a convoy making its way between King's Cross and Russel Square Stations. The final explosion about an hour later was on the number 30 double-decker bus in Tavistock Square near King's Cross. Foreign Affairs Minister, Jack Straw, announces in a press release that the attacks have the Al-Qaeda trademark. In a live television broadcast from Downing Street, the P.M. Tony Blair, back in London following the G8 summit in Gleneagles, condemns the attacks and pays tribute to the stoicism and resistance shown by Londoners whilst promising to deliver the most thorough police and security service enquiry to bring the culprits to justice. (6 years ago).
• 25th July, 1978 The world's first test-tube baby Louise Brown was born in Oldham, U.K. IVF is now a reality. (33 years ago).
• 1st July 1961 Diana Princess of Wales was born in Sandringham, U.K., consort (1981-1996) of Prince Charles of England and mother to Princes William and Harry. (50 years ago).
• 2nd July, 1897 In U.K. the Italian inventor Guglielmo Marconi presented the first radio patent, making him the future Father of radio and wireless telecommunications. (114 years ago).

August

• 5th August, 1963 Representatives from USA, USSR and UK signed Nuclear Test-Ban Treaty in Moscow (47 years ago).
• 29th August, 1842 Treaty of Nanking signed in China putting an end to the Opium War between Great Britain and China, which had started three years earlier. Hong Kong was handed over, amonsgt other things (168 years ago).
• 28th August, 1833 Following the ban on the slave trade in 1807, on this date the British Parliament passed the Emancipation Act which would abolish slavery throughout UK and its colonies (177 years ago).
• 16th August, 1888 Thomas Edward Lawrence, better known as Lawrence of Arabia, was born in Tremedoc, Wales, UK. He was an officer of the British Intelligence who was sent to Cairo and Mecca. He was welcomed as strategical leader by the Arabs and became liason officer against the Ottoman Empire. Lawrence always fought for Arab independence (122 years ago).
• 15th August, 1888 En Lumphanan (los Highlands de Escocia), en el campo de batalla muere Macbeth (en cuya vida se inspirará William Shakespeare para escribir su famosísima obra de teatro) a manos de Malcolm, el hijo mayor de Duncan I. Diecisiete años atrás, el 14 de agosto de 1040, Macbeth había matado a Duncan I en un combate (y no de manera traicionera como en la obra de Shakespeare) por la corona de Escocia. El cuñado de Macbeth, Lulach I, lo sucederá en el trono, pero será asesinado a su vez por Malcom Canmore, el 17 de marzo de 1058. Así concluirá el período céltico de la historia de Escocia. Después de esta muerte Malcolm, el hijo de Duncan I, se convertirá en Malcolm III y reinará Escocia durante los siguientes 35 años (hace 953 años).

• 8th September, 1157 Richard I (Richard Lionheart) was born in Oxford. We would go on to be recognised for his noble manner and great achievements during the Third Cruzade. He would also become a King, cherished by his people who would consider him a hero. (853 years ago).
• 26th September, 1580 Sir Francis Drake, an English corsair, returned to Plymouth after travelling around the globe. His trip started in 1577 and made him the first Englishman to sail around the world. (430 years ago).
• 7th September, 1533 Elizabeth I was born in London. She was Queen from 1558 to 1603, a period known as the Elizabethan era. In this time, England would strongly establish itself as an important European power, leading the field in politics, business and the arts. (477 years ago).
• 15th September, 1830 IN UK, the Machester-Liverpool railway line was opened, marking the beginning of the railway era. (180 years ago).
• 14th September, 1852 Arthur Wellesley, who was the Commander of the British Army at the time, died in Kent. He was the first Duke of Wellington, expelling Napoleon's troops from Spain whom he went on to defeat at the Battle of Waterloo in 1815. (158 years ago).

• 14th October, 1066 The Battle of Hastings, one of the most important in England's history, was fought between two forces - the army led by Harold II, Saxon King of England and an invading force spearheaded by William the Conqueror, the Duke of Normandy. The latter won, paving the way to Norman rule throughout England. (944 years ago).
• 14th October, 1633 James II of England and Ireland, and VII of Scotland was born in London. He reigned from 6th February 1685 until 1688. He was to be the last Catholic monarch to reign in UK. (377 years ago).
• 19th October, 1781 The British surrender in Yorktown, USA. The British General, Charles Cornwallis, surrendered to the French. As a result, England had undoubtedly lost its 13 colonies. (229 years ago).
• 30th October, 1928 In Great Britain, the notes taken in Alexander Flemming's lab book indicate a culture dish had caught his attention. It in fact turned out to be one of the most important health-related discoveries for the human race: penicillin. (82 years ago).
• 26th October, 1951 Winston Churchill was re-elected as UK Prime Minister following a Conservative win in the general elections. (59 years ago).
